At this point in my life, I am proud to say that I have accumulated an immense number of varied experiences that have all helped to shape who I am today and where I want to continue my journey. From producing NCAA Division-I Women's Volleyball Matches with the Minnesota Gophers to assisting Latin American baseball players on their English language and United States culture acquisition, each experience has provided me with a new insight on the industry of sport, as well as on the world we live in. Below, you can explore each of these experiences and learn about the different steps within my journey.

Coral REef Management Program // Tobacco Caye & Monkey Bay, Belize

Dates: March 2016
I traveled to Belize in March 2016 as part of a Seminar Abroad opportunity that I completed at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities during the spring semester of my freshman year. This seminar included a classroom component for the first part of the semester which was structured to build our knowledge on the topic of coral reef management and wildlife conservation so that we were informed and prepared to investigate and research the ecosystems of Belize.  We spent the beginning portion of the 8-day trip in Monkey Bay at a research facility within the forest and then relocated to spend the majority of our time on Tobacco Caye in the presence of 10 local residents and 2 research coordinators.

Highlights
  • Conducted field research on marine biology and ecological inter-connectivity within the ecosystems of Belize, including the Belize River waterway and the coral reefs belonging to the Mesoamerican Reef.
  • Research project completed on Coral Preference & Grazing Habits of Parrotfish (Scaridae)
  • Interaction with local residents who provided a new perspective and different way of life
